RAISING FINANCIAL SELF-CONFIDENCE

Until recently I have tended to be more of a spectator than an active participant when it comes to matters of international finance and currency exchange rate movements. That said, I am sufficiently literate to know that the value of our pension funds and life savings is inextricably linked to what happens in New York, Frankfurt and Hong Kong � and decisions made by institutional investors on behalf of me and millions like me will affect our personal wealth. After all, the �wheeler dealers� on Wall Street, the London Stock Exchange, the Paris Bourse and myriad of financial centres across the globe know what they are doing. Or do they?

The evidence of the last few months is that even the experts didn�t see the financial chaos heading towards them or like rabbits they were simply transfixed in the headlights. Either way, the impact on lesser mortals like me is the same. I have therefore decided not to rely so much on others - and get off the financial fence, get involved and take control of my financial destiny. Of course you need to make informed decisions about how to grow your wealth, but with the credibility of banks, hedge funds and investment companies completely shattered, what can you do and who can you trust?

I am no longer content with other people playing �pass the parcel� with my money. My judgement tells me that, with the right kind of guidance and insight into how financial markets operate, I can do for me what others have failed to deliver � and I will at least have the reassurance of taking my own decisions in my own way.
